Prince Aning is the next top prospect Borussia Dortmund signed. The 18-year-old joined from Ajax’s under 19 after BVB pursued the left-back for several years.

Aning reveals in an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten that the Black and Yellows approached him before the pandemic started but the deal could not be made before now. Dortmund paid Ajax, who wanted to retain the talent, a development fee.

“Borussia Dortmund is a great club where I can show people who I am and what I can do. I’m sure I’ll develop into a better player here,” Aning explained, adding: “I am fast with the ball, good defensively and offensively in one-on-one situations, and aggressive in duels.”

The Dutchman was signed for Dortmund’s under 23 for this season, but it is the club’s long-term goal to promote him to the first team.

However, since BVB’s first team is currently short-handed as players who were on international duty in June enjoy an extended time off, Aning started his Dortmund tenure training with the senior team.

“It was great to play with Mats Hummels and all the guys I used to watch on TV before. It’s also just a nice experience in general,” he revealed.
